Le Newsletteur
It’s only when coming back to write this Newsletter that I am realising that roughly 2 months have passed since my last letter. 10 weeks of being on sports mode. Like most of us, recently baptised responsible adults, I have had no brain space for anything but the essentials. It has been a stressful time, and I am honestly glad to be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
So if you are in a similar place, just stop for a moment, breath, and then keep on keeping on.
** You can now listen to me read out Le Newsletteur, voiceover track is above the title **

My short story published on Brittle Paper
Your Boy Made It! (I think?). My short story got published by the illustrious digital publication, Brittle Paper. It is an online literary magazine for readers of African Literature.
During a creative writing session with Ginga (my brother in art), in an attempt to describe a love language, I wrote a story. I was trying to express a feeling that I am having a hard time finding in my adult life here in Europe. A cultural happening that I didn’t know I would miss, and dearly need, from the places I call home. The best way I found to describe this love language is by basing my story around a Matanga, the grieving ritual in Congolese culture, generally held for funerals.
I compare the ritual to a love song. So the story is called “Matanga, a love song”. Read the story HERE
Upcoming Projects
Black Men Sharing Podcast
I was a guest on a podcast I co-produce, the Black Men Sharing (BMS) podcast. With Adam, we caught up about how we are doing and how we are surviving the intensity of misery that is flooding our social media. It was also an opportunity to share with the community that I am now part of the team, and share my motivations.
Check out BMS, we’re based in Belgium, and look out for the podcast episode.
Village Highlight
Maïmouna Elle - Romanticizing African Countries
I believe that when God created the earth, He spent the most amount of time on the Senegalese people, making them the gem of humanity. This Instagram page, and their recent posts, help prove my point. @romaticizingafricancountries
August - October Musings
Living is trying, and trying again
I’ve been thinking about how life is about trying and trying again.
Knowing that you will fall, that it will hurt, that you will limp, but also that you will walk straight up again. It is allowing yourself to be challenged and do something new, to get uncomfortable with your beliefs, to give love another chance, to love in a new way. The only way to find the right thing for you, is to try, learn and then trying again.
Some people are motivated by the surety that they will die. This allows them to break out of their shell, and live the life they choose (in respect of others of course) because at the end of the day we will all die. That doesn’t work for me, it actually stresses me out because I think about all the things I want to do before I go.
Rather, what works for me is the realisation that I have time. That life is long, and that if things don’t work out, I have time to re-direct myself. That if I am not fond of the decisions I have made, I have time to make new ones. This has allowed me to live present moments fully, to be more patient with the process, and to enjoy the journey I am on.
In Love, in art, in work, in friendships, in life…. I try to remind myself that I have time, time to try and try again.
Blessed November
